Resident Spotlight: Jerry Hirsch | Imperial Club

Resident Spotlight: Jerry Hirsch

Jerry Hirsch was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to Henry and Bertha Hirsch. His family was in the laundry business and was first in the state of New Jersey in their business. Jerry attended Snyder High School and continued his higher education at Cornell University, receiving a degree in chemical engineering.
Jerry went on to be a captain in the US Marine Corp during WWII and received a Purple Heart for his heroic actions. After the war, he married his lovely Lorraine in October of 1945 and they had two sons. They lived in Deal, New Jersey and owned a dry cleaning plant in Asbury Park until 1956.
In 1950, Jerry and Lorraine moved to Miami, Florida, where Jerry became a distributor of laundry and dry cleaning equipment. He also designed laundries for countries in the Caribbean and had offices in Puerto Rico and in Kingston, Jamaica. His family has three generations of patents in the US Patent Office.
Jerry and Lorraine traveled the world, and on one of their trips to Las Vegas, Jerry became certified as a croupier and worked on cruise ships and in casinos dealing blackjack.
One of the most memorable events in Jerry’s life was being blessed by the Archbishop of the Episcopalian Church on Fifth Avenue in New York City. The Archbishop had previously served with Jerry in the Marine Corps. Jerry was very impressed when the Archbishop blessed him in Hebrew.
Jerry and Lorraine moved to Imperial Club in 2010. Both were very active and loved dancing at the events. Unfortunately, Lorraine passed away 4 years ago. Jerry is still very active, taking yoga classes and teaching the staff to deal blackjack, with great success. Jerry, it is a true pleasure to have you at Imperial Club.
